         Founded in 1946, SMC holds a longstanding goodwill among the Thai medical profession as a high quality branded generic pharmaceutical company. Today, SMC serves the health market with more than 40 hight quality cost effective products in various dosage forms and distributed all over Thailand and overseas. SMC has a strong presence in five therapeutic fields: the asthma and allergy sector, lipid-lowering drugs, anti-viral, anti-fungus and eye-ear group.

SMC's production facilities are located in Bangkok, with highly qualified and experienced pharmacists, scientists, and technical staff for the Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Production Department. The facilities are of proven production technologies and are in compliance with GMP and ISO 9001 version 2000. SMC's laboratory is well equipped with sophisticated equipments including the FTNIR and LCMS and have been accredited with ISO 17025 certification. SMC's laboratory achieved a satisfactory Z-score in the test results relative to other 31 laboratories all over the world that participated in the proficiency testing program organized by the Government Laboratory of the HKSAR (GL) and Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) under the auspices of the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (APLAC) .

Moreover, a number of independent clinical trials, bio- equivalence studies and permeability studies have been undertaken to demonstrate the efficacy of SMC products to the original products.

Quality Certified

         SMC was among the first pharmaceutical companies that were qualified for the GMP certificate awarded by the FDA authorities of Thailand. In the year 2000, SMC was accredited with the quality standard ISO 9002 which was later updated to the advanced version of ISO 9000 version 2000 in the year 2003.

With continuous quality improvement, SMC strived to implement the system of ISO 17025 to its laboratory in 2002 and became the first SME pharmaceutical company to be accredited with ISO 17025 in 2003.

SMC facilities are of proven production technologies and are maintained in compliance with current GMP and ISO 9000 version 2000. SMC's highly qualified technical staff, modern accredited laboratory & state of the art analytical instrumentation including FTNIR and LCMS guarantee the highest quality of our pharmaceutical testing.

ISO 17025

         ISO 17025 is to laboratory measurements as ISO 9000 is to products. Certification to ISO 9000 alone does not demonstrate a lab's ability to produce technically valid data and results, and all ISO 9000 elements relevant to the testing and calibration services within a laboratory's quality system are incorporated in ISO 17025.

The requirements of ISO 17025 encompass all aspects of laboratory management, including calibration procedures, analytical testing proficiency, report generation and record keeping. These tasks are performed by properly-trained personnel using controlled test methods and procedures in order to ensure our highest quality.
